PREPARATION
Heritage Seeds lawn and turf seed blends contain only elite varieties with proven performance in the Australian environment.  To prepare the site, remove all weeds and other grass.  Sandy soils will require some organic matter and soils with high clay content will require some gypsum.  Remove all lumps,
rocks and rubbish, and loosen the soil to a depth of 5cm.  Use a level lawn to make the surface as even as possible.

SOWING TIMES
Spring and autumn are ideal times to plant lawn seed.  Avoid the very cold and very hot and dry months.  Sow seed at the rate recommended (typically 3 – 5kg / 100m2).  Seed should be broadcast on the surface evenly and then raked lightly to ensure good seed to soil contact.

WATERING
Keep the soil moist at all times while the seed is germinating, approximately 5 – 7 days.  Reduce watering as the lawn becomes established.  Check with your local council for regulations on the watering of lawns.
MOWING
For new lawns mow when the grass is 8 – 10 cm high taking off the top 1/3 of the plant.  Do not mow when the grass and ground
is
damp.  Once established, the ideal grass mowing height is 4 – 5 cm.
FERTILISING
Fertilise before a period of good rainfall in autumn and spring.
